💳 Stripe Billing Integration
CaseHug uses Stripe for secure payment processing. Your payment information is handled directly by Stripe — CaseHug never stores your card number. All billing management (update card, download invoices, cancel subscription) is handled through the Stripe Customer Portal.
PCI-compliant payments
Stripe is PCI DSS Level 1 certified. Your card data never touches CaseHug servers.
Automatic invoices
Stripe emails you an invoice receipt after every charge. Download past invoices from the billing portal at any time.
Auto-renewal
Subscriptions auto-renew monthly (or annually). You'll receive an email reminder 7 days before renewal.
Easy cancellation
Cancel any time from the billing portal. No cancellation fees. Access continues until the end of your paid period.

How to upgrade or downgrade
Upgrading:
- 1. Go to Dashboard → Billing.
- 2. Click 'Upgrade Plan' next to the plan you want to switch to.
- 3. You'll be redirected to Stripe Checkout to securely enter your payment information.
- 4. The upgrade takes effect immediately. Stripe handles prorated billing automatically.
Downgrading:
- 1. Go to Dashboard → Billing.
- 2. Click 'Change Plan' and select the lower plan.
- 3. Review any features that will be removed.
- 4. Confirm the downgrade. It takes effect at the start of your next billing period — you'll have full access to current features until then.
Understanding usage & overages
CaseHug pricing is based on “active matters” — the number of matters currently open and collecting documents in your account.
What counts as an active matter?
Any matter with status Active or Pending counts against your limit. Complete and Closed matters do not.
What happens when I hit my limit?
We never block you from creating new matters. Additional matters beyond your plan limit are billed at the overage rate ($2.50/matter for Solo and Practice; $2.00/matter for Firm) at the end of each billing period.
How do I avoid overage charges?
Archive completed matters regularly. A matter only counts against your limit while it's Active or Pending. Once archived (Closed), it no longer counts.
Can I see my current usage?
Yes. Your Dashboard home page shows your current active matter count. Your Billing page shows usage details including the current overage count and projected invoice.
Payment methods
Credit/Debit Card
Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover accepted. Cards are billed monthly or annually depending on your plan.
ACH Bank Transfer
Available for annual plans. Contact billing@calmintake.com to set up ACH payment.
Invoice
Available for Firm plan customers and enterprise accounts. Net-30 invoicing available. Contact billing@calmintake.com.

Cancellation & refunds
You can cancel your subscription at any time from Dashboard → Billing → Cancel Subscription. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period — you'll have access until then.
We offer a 30-day money-back guarantee if you complete your trial and subscribe, but don't see measurable improvement to your intake process within 30 days. Contact billing@calmintake.com to request a refund.
After cancellation, your data is retained for 30 days. You can reactivate your account and recover all data during this window. After 30 days, data is permanently deleted.
