Integrations

Integrations

CaseHug integrates natively with four practice management platforms: Clio, Smokeball, MyCase, and Lawmatics. When connected, approved documents automatically sync to your existing workflow with no manual export needed.

⚠️ Integration availability depends on your plan. Clio and Smokeball are available on all plans. MyCase and Lawmatics require Practice or Firm plan. API access requires Firm plan.

🔵

How to connect Clio

  1. 1Go to Dashboard → Settings → Integrations.
  2. 2Find the Clio card and click 'Connect to Clio.'
  3. 3You'll be redirected to Clio's authentication page. Sign in with your Clio credentials.
  4. 4Review the permissions CaseHug is requesting (read/write access to matters and documents) and click 'Allow.'
  5. 5You'll be redirected back to CaseHug. The Clio integration is now active.
  6. 6Test the connection by opening a matter and checking that your Clio matters appear in the dropdown when linking.

What syncs to Clio:

  • Approved documents are uploaded to the linked Clio matter's documents section
  • Document names and categories are preserved
  • Client contact information can be pulled from Clio into a new CaseHug matter

💡 You can link each CaseHug matter to a specific Clio matter from the matter detail page. Documents only sync to the linked Clio matter — they won't appear elsewhere in Clio.

How to connect Smokeball

  1. 1Go to Dashboard → Settings → Integrations.
  2. 2Find the Smokeball card and click 'Connect to Smokeball.'
  3. 3Enter your Smokeball API credentials. You can find these in Smokeball under Settings → API Access.
  4. 4Click 'Save & Test Connection.' CaseHug will verify the connection is working.
  5. 5Once connected, link each CaseHug matter to a Smokeball matter from the matter detail page.

Need your Smokeball API credentials? In Smokeball, go to Settings → Integrations → API Access. If you don't see this option, contact Smokeball support to enable API access for your account.

Sync settings

Once connected, you can configure exactly what syncs and when from Settings → Integrations.

Auto-sync on approval

Documents sync to your PMS immediately when you approve them in CaseHug. This is enabled by default.

Manual sync only

Documents don't sync until you explicitly click 'Sync to [PMS]' from the matter detail page.

Document naming format

Choose how documents are named in your PMS: original filename, document type, or a custom format.

Folder/category mapping

Map CaseHug document categories to corresponding folders or categories in your PMS.

Webhook setup

Webhooks let you build custom automations — send data to Zapier, Make.com, or your own systems when events happen in CaseHug. Available on Practice and Firm plans.

Available webhook events:

document.uploadedA client uploaded a document
document.approvedYou approved a document
document.rejectedYou requested a re-upload
matter.createdA new matter was created
intake.completedAll required documents were uploaded

How to add a webhook:

  1. 1. Go to Settings → Webhooks (or Settings → Integrations → Webhooks tab).
  2. 2. Click 'Add Webhook.'
  3. 3. Enter the endpoint URL you want to receive the webhook payload.
  4. 4. Select which events should trigger the webhook.
  5. 5. Click Save. CaseHug will send a test ping to your endpoint to verify it's reachable.

💡 Zapier and Make.com both support webhook triggers. You can build automations like: “When a document is approved in CaseHug → Create a task in Asana” or “When intake is completed → Send a Slack message.”
