Court Forms & Deadlines

Court Forms & Filing Deadlines

CaseHug includes a built-in court forms library and deadline tracker. Find jurisdiction-specific forms, complete them in the portal, and track every filing deadline across your matters — all in one place.

Accessing the court forms library

The court forms library is at Dashboard → Courts. It organizes forms by state and practice area, with search and filtering.

  1. 1Go to Dashboard → Courts in the left sidebar.
  2. 2Select your state from the dropdown (available: SC, NC, GA, FL, and others).
  3. 3Browse forms by practice area — Family Law, Civil, Probate, Criminal, and more.
  4. 4Click any form to view its description, form number, effective date, and whether it's fillable.
  5. 5Click 'View Form' to open the PDF, or 'Assign to Matter' to add it as a requirement to an active matter.

Fillable forms vs. PDF-only forms

Not all court forms are fillable in the portal — it depends on whether CaseHug has a digital version of the form.

✅ Fillable FormsSupported

Clients complete the form directly in the portal using a guided form editor. Fields are validated in real time. When submitted, CaseHug generates a completed PDF and adds it to the matter's document list. Signatures are captured via the built-in signature pad.

📄 PDF-Only Forms

For forms not yet in the fillable library, clients download the PDF, complete it manually, and upload the signed copy. The portal guides them through this with clear instructions (the “print and sign” workflow).

Assigning a court form to a matter

You can add any court form to a matter's document checklist at any time — before or after the intake link has been sent.

From the court forms library

Find the form, click 'Assign to Matter,' and select the matter from the dropdown.

From the matter detail page

Open a matter → Documents → '+ Request Document.' Select 'Court Form' as the type, then choose the form from the list.

When creating a matter

If your matter template includes court forms, they're added automatically when the matter is created.

💡 When you assign a fillable court form to a matter, the client sees it in their intake portal with a “Complete Form” button instead of an upload button. They fill it out online — no printing required.

Tracking filing deadlines

Every matter has a Deadlines tab where you can track court dates, filing deadlines, and statute of limitations dates. CaseHug sends reminders before deadlines approach.

  1. 1Open a matter and click the 'Deadlines' tab.
  2. 2Click '+ Add Deadline' to create a new deadline.
  3. 3Enter the deadline title (e.g., 'Answer Due'), due date, and optionally a type (Filing, Hearing, Statute, Other) and notes.
  4. 4Save the deadline. It appears in the matter's deadline list ordered by date.
  5. 5CaseHug sends an in-app notification and (if enabled) an email when a deadline is 7 days away.
  6. 6Check the 'Completed' checkbox when a deadline is met — it moves to the completed list.
