This isn't a startup story.
This is a conviction.
We built CaseHug because we watched too many good attorneys lose clients they deserved to keep — not because of bad lawyering, but because of paperwork. That's not a technology problem. That's a dignity problem.
Our Story
I grew up watching what happens when systems fail the people who need them most. That stuck with me.
I'm Jackson Wisecarver, founder and CEO of CalmIntake. I run operations inside a small law firm in Greenville, South Carolina. Not as an advisor. Not as a vendor. I'm in the room when a client disappears because a 12-page intake packet scared them off before we ever got to help them. I'm the one making the call nobody wants to make.
I built CalmIntake because I got tired of watching good people lose access to good representation over paperwork. That's not a technology problem. That's a dignity problem.
Kevin and I built the first version at our own firm. No outside capital. No permission. Just a process that was broken and two people stubborn enough to fix it. We made document collection invisible — no confusion, no chasing, no friction. Just a client who finally feels like someone made this easy for them.
That's still the heartbeat of everything we build. We don't sell firms a new system to learn. We remove the friction from the one they already have. Quietly. Reliably. Like it should have worked all along.
Every feature in this platform exists because a real person at a real desk told us what was costing them time, trust, or clients. We listened. We built. We kept building.
This isn't a startup story. This is a conviction.

Built inside a real law firm, not a VC conference room
Greenville, South Carolina — where the problem was real
The people behind CaseHug
Jackson Wisecarver didn't come to legal technology from the outside. He came up through it — starting inside a family law firm and building his way to running the operation. He's the one who watched attorneys lose clients they deserved to keep. Not because of bad lawyering. Because of paperwork.
“I saw the gap between what attorneys could do and what they were stuck doing. That's where CalmIntake lives.”
Jackson believes the best software disappears. It just works, invisibly, so the people using it can focus on the work that actually matters. For attorneys, that's serving their clients. For someone facing a divorce or a custody battle, that's getting help without extra stress piled on top of the hardest season of their life.
CalmIntake is built on that conviction. Technology should get out of the way and let human relationships do what they do best.

Our journey
What we believe
These aren't values we put on a wall. They're decisions we make every day.
Privacy First
Client data is sacred. Every feature is built with privacy as the constraint, not the afterthought. We don't monetize data, we don't sell insights, and we don't cut corners on security.
Radical Simplicity
Every feature earns its place. If it makes the product harder to use, it doesn't ship. Simplicity is what turns an 80% completion rate into 98%. It's what makes clients thank attorneys for the intake process.
Speed as Respect
Slow software disrespects your time. Slow intake disrespects your client's time. We obsess over performance because in legal work, time is literally money — yours and your client's.
Compliance Without Compromise
HIPAA, jurisdiction-specific requirements, data retention policies — we treat compliance not as a box to check but as a feature. When attorneys trust us with client data, they're trusting us with their professional reputation.
