Connect your CaseHug intake workflow directly to Clio Manage. Matters, contacts, and approved documents sync automatically — no manual export, no double entry.

Matters

How to connect Clio
Go to Settings → Integrations
In your CaseHug dashboard, navigate to Settings → Integrations.
Click "Connect to Clio"
Find the Clio card and click the "Connect to Clio" button.
Sign in to Clio
You'll be redirected to Clio's secure login. Sign in with your Clio credentials.
Authorize CaseHug
Review the permissions CaseHug needs (matters, contacts, documents) and click Allow.
You're connected
CaseHug will redirect back to your integrations page. The Clio card will show your connected account.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need a specific Clio plan?
CaseHug works with all Clio Manage plans that include API access. Most paid plans include this.
Will CaseHug create duplicate contacts in Clio?
No. CaseHug searches for an existing Clio contact by email before creating a new one. If a match is found, it's used as-is.
Can I control what gets synced?
Yes. You can toggle auto-sync on/off for document approvals and matter creation from Settings → Integrations. Manual sync is always available from the matter detail page.
What happens if a sync fails?
Sync errors are logged in your integration history. You can retry the sync manually at any time from the matter detail page. Failures don't affect your data in either system.
Can I disconnect Clio at any time?
Yes. Click Disconnect from Settings → Integrations. This revokes CaseHug's access and removes stored tokens. Your data in both CaseHug and Clio is unaffected.
Are my Clio credentials stored by CaseHug?
CaseHug never stores your Clio username or password. We use Clio's OAuth 2.0 flow — only an encrypted access token is stored, which you can revoke at any time from Clio's settings.
What practice areas does CaseHug map to?
CaseHug maps case types to standard Clio practice areas: Family Law, Immigration, Personal Injury, Estate Planning, and more. If your firm uses custom practice areas in Clio, contact support to configure custom mappings.
Does this work with Clio Grow?
The integration connects to Clio Manage (matters, documents, contacts). Clio Grow (CRM) is a separate product and is not currently supported.
Troubleshooting
⚠️ "Clio integration is not configured" error
This means our Clio app credentials aren't set up on our server. Contact support@calmintake.com — this is usually resolved within one business day.
⚠️ Documents sync but don't appear in Clio
Check that the matter is correctly linked to a Clio matter (look for the Clio Matter ID on the matter detail page). Also confirm the document is in "Approved" status in CaseHug.
⚠️ "Invalid state" error during OAuth
OAuth state tokens expire after 10 minutes. Return to Settings → Integrations and click Connect again to start a fresh authorization.
⚠️ Contact created in Clio with wrong name
CaseHug syncs the client name exactly as entered. Update the client's name in CaseHug, then re-sync the matter.
⚠️ Sync shows "failed" status
Open Settings → Integrations → View Sync History for the error details. Common causes: expired access token (try disconnecting and reconnecting), Clio API rate limits (wait a few minutes and retry), or network issues.
