Lawmatics Setup Guide

Connect CaseHug to Lawmatics in under 10 minutes. This guide walks you through every step, including enabling developer settings.

Prerequisites

  • An active CaseHug account (Solo, Practice, or Firm plan)
  • A Lawmatics account with developer settings enabled (contact support@lawmatics.com)
  • Firm Admin role in CaseHug
  • Admin access in your Lawmatics account

⚠️ Important: Developer settings are not enabled by default in Lawmatics. You must contact support@lawmatics.com to enable them before you can connect CaseHug.

Setup Steps

1

Enable Developer Settings in Lawmatics

Before connecting, you need developer API access enabled on your Lawmatics account. Email support@lawmatics.com and request that developer settings be enabled. This is a one-time step.

💡 Tips

  • Mention you want to connect CaseHug (a legal intake platform) via OAuth.
  • Lawmatics support typically enables this within 1-2 business days.
  • For API questions, you can also contact api@lawmatics.com.
2

Navigate to Integration Settings

Log in to your CaseHug dashboard. Click your firm name in the top-right corner, then go to Settings → Integrations. You'll see available integrations listed as cards.

💡 Tips

  • Only firm administrators can manage integrations.
  • If you don't see the Integrations tab, contact your CaseHug administrator.
3

Click "Connect to Lawmatics"

Find the Lawmatics card and click the green "Connect to Lawmatics" button. CaseHug will redirect you to Lawmatics' secure authorization page.

💡 Tips

  • Make sure you're logged into the correct Lawmatics account before clicking.
  • If you manage multiple accounts, log into the one you want to connect first.
4

Authorize CaseHug in Lawmatics

Lawmatics will show you the permissions CaseHug needs: Contacts (read/write), Matters (read/write), Forms (read), and Activities (write). Review and click "Allow Access".

💡 Tips

  • CaseHug only requests the minimum permissions needed for sync.
  • You can revoke access at any time from Lawmatics or CaseHug.
5

Verify Connection

After authorizing, you'll be redirected back to CaseHug. The Lawmatics card will now show "Connected" with the connection date and auto-sync toggle.

💡 Tips

  • If the connection fails, verify developer settings are enabled on your Lawmatics account.
  • Contact support@calmintake.com if you see an error after authorizing.
6

Configure Pipeline Stage Mappings

Scroll down to the "Case Type Mappings" section. CaseHug maps its case types to Lawmatics pipeline stages automatically (e.g., "Divorce — Standard" → "Family Law Intake"). Customize these to match your firm's Lawmatics pipelines.

💡 Tips

  • Default mappings work for most firms — only customize if your Lawmatics stages have non-standard names.
  • Changes are saved immediately when you select a new mapping.
7

Enable Auto-Sync

Toggle "Auto-sync on approval" to ON. When enabled, completed intakes automatically push to Lawmatics — creating the contact, matter, and logging an intake activity. Toggle "Auto-sync on matter created" to push immediately when a matter is created.

💡 Tips

  • Start with auto-sync disabled and do a few manual syncs first.
  • You can always trigger a manual sync from any matter's detail page.
8

Configure Lawmatics Automation Rules (Optional)

In Lawmatics, set up automation rules to trigger campaigns when a new contact is created or a matter reaches a specific pipeline stage. This lets you automatically send welcome emails, schedule consultations, or enroll leads in drip campaigns.

💡 Tips

  • Use 'Contact Created' trigger for immediate welcome sequences.
  • Use 'Matter Stage Changed' trigger for stage-specific automations.
  • Test automations with a test contact before enabling for all intakes.
9

Test with a Manual Sync

Open any existing matter in CaseHug. Click "Sync to Lawmatics." Verify in Lawmatics that the contact and matter appear correctly. Check that the pipeline stage mapping is correct and the intake activity was logged.

💡 Tips

  • Use a test matter first to verify everything works.
  • Check Lawmatics' contact list and matters list after syncing.
  • Verify the activity log shows the CaseHug intake note.

Troubleshooting

"Lawmatics integration is not configured" error

Your CaseHug instance doesn't have Lawmatics API credentials. Contact support@calmintake.com. Also verify developer settings are enabled in Lawmatics.

OAuth redirect fails or shows a blank page

Clear your browser cookies for app.lawmatics.com, then try connecting again. Ensure pop-up blockers aren't interfering.

Connection shows as inactive after a few days

CaseHug automatically refreshes tokens. If you see an inactive connection, disconnect and reconnect.

Pipeline stage not mapping correctly

Go to Settings → Integrations → Case Type Mappings and update the mapping for that case type. Future syncs will use the new mapping.

Duplicate contacts created in Lawmatics

CaseHug matches by email address. If the client email differs between systems, a new contact may be created. Merge duplicates in Lawmatics.

Automation rules not triggering in Lawmatics

Verify the automation is active and the trigger condition matches (e.g., contact creation source). Check Lawmatics automation logs.
